Carrier Sales Representative – Specialized Freight (Flatbed / Heavy Haul / OD)Location: Tampa, FLCompany: LST GroupRole DescriptionLST Group is seeking a highly driven, detail-oriented Carrier Sales Representative to support our growing portfolio of flatbed, heavy haul, and over-dimensional (OD) freight. This role is responsible for securing capacity, pricing freight, and executing shipments that require a higher level of coordination, planning, and carrier expertise.This is not a transactional carrier sales role—this position requires someone who understands the complexities of specialized freight, including permits, routing, escort requirements, and appointment-driven delivery schedules. You will play a key role in ensuring these shipments are executed safely, compliantly, and on time while maintaining strong margins and service standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCarrier Sourcing & Capacity DevelopmentBuild and maintain a network of qualified flatbed, heavy haul, and over-dimensional carriers Source capacity for specialized freight including step deck, RGN, double drop, multi-axle, and other non-standard equipment Develop long-term relationships with carrier partners capable of handling complex and high-value shipments Vet carriers to ensure compliance with safety, insurance, and regulatory requirements Specialized Freight ExecutionCoordinate and execute flatbed, heavy haul, and OD shipments from booking through delivery Understand and manage key components of specialized freight including:Permits and routing requirements Escort/escort vehicle coordination Load securement standards Appointment scheduling and delivery constraints Ensure all shipment details are accurate and communicated clearly to carriers and internal teams Pricing & NegotiationProvide pricing directly to customers as well as working with the Account Management & Sales Team to quote new and existing customer business Negotiate competitive carrier rates while maintaining margin expectations Understand market conditions specific to specialized capacity and equipment availability Balance urgency, complexity, and cost to deliver profitable and service-driven outcomes Load Management & VisibilityMonitor shipment status from pickup through delivery, ensuring on-time execution and full visibility Proactively communicate updates, delays, or potential service issues to internal teams and customers Act quickly to resolve issues, recover loads, or adjust plans when necessary Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with Sales and Account Management teams to support customer needs and win new freight opportunities Communicate effectively with carriers, drivers, and internal teams to ensure alignment on expectations Provide insight and recommendations on specialized freight solutions and capacity strategy Data Entry & Systems ManagementEnsure accurate and timely entry of load details, carrier information, and shipment updates in TMS Maintain organized and detailed records for all specialized shipments Requirements2–5+ years of experience in carrier sales or brokerage operations, with a strong focus on flatbed or specialized freight preferred Strong negotiation skills and understanding of pricing specifically for open deck freightProven experience working with flatbed, heavy haul, or over-dimensional shipments Strong understanding of equipment types (step deck, RGN, double drop, etc.) and their applications Knowledge of permits, routing, and compliance requirements for OD freight is a major plus Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities High level of organization and attention to detail Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Preferred QualificationsExisting carrier network within the flatbed / heavy haul space Experience coordinating multi-leg or project-based freight Familiarity with oversized load regulations and state-by-state requirements Key Traits for SuccessDetail-oriented with the ability to manage complex shipment requirements Proactive problem solver who can anticipate and prevent issues Strong sense of urgency and accountability Ability to think critically and adapt quickly in dynamic situations Confidence in decision-making and negotiation Benefits of Working at LST GroupAutonomy and Trust: Freedom to make decisions and operate at a high level without micromanagement Competitive Salary & Commissions: Weekly pay structure with uncapped earning potential Comprehensive Benefits: Quality health insurance options Strong 401k Match: Invest in your future with company matching Powered by JazzHR
