Job description:About UsFounded in 1994, Analytical Engineering, Inc. (AEI) is an established research, development, and manufacturing organization specializing in engine and component testing. AEI supports a wide range of diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel engine development programs through in-house testing capabilities and a collaborative engineering approach.Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Engineer to support engine test cell operations and development activities. This position is approximately 80% hands-on work in the test cell and is not a desk-based role. The Engineer will work closely with test cell technicians to plan, execute, and troubleshoot engine tests while supporting multiple projects simultaneously. Success in this role requires strong multitasking skills, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize competing test schedules and technical demands.This is also a customer-facing role. The Engineer will regularly interact with customers in person and via phone/email to coordinate testing activities, communicate test status, and support technical discussions.In addition, the Engineer will develop and maintain LabVIEW-based test and data acquisition systems, provide real-time technical support during testing, and assist with basic component design and facility support activities as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport daily engine test cell operations in close collaboration with test cell techniciansPlan, execute, monitor, and troubleshoot engine tests across multiple concurrent projectsEffectively prioritize tasks and manage workload in a fast-paced, multi-project environmentDevelop, modify, and maintain LabVIEW applications for test automation, control, and data acquisitionConfigure, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation, sensors, and DAQ hardware used in engine testingAssist with test setup, engine installation, calibration, and checkout activitiesDiagnose and resolve test cell, instrumentation, and engine-related issues during active testingAnalyze test data and provide timely feedback and recommendationsPrepare test plans, procedures, reports, and safety documentationCommunicate directly with customers to discuss test objectives, schedules, results, and technical issuesSupport basic component and fixture design, including 3D modeling and drawing creation using tools such as AutoDesk Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar CAD softwareProvide support for test facilities, including assisting with equipment layout, utilities coordination, and general test cell infrastructure improvementsCoordinate with engineering and technical staff to meet test objectives and schedulesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degreeStrong understanding of internal combustion enginesHands-on experience in an engine test cell environmentDemonstrated experience using LabVIEW for data acquisition, control, or test automationProven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyWillingness to spend the majority of time working hands-on in a test cell environmentStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including customer-facing communicationPreferred QualificationsExperience working with internal combustion enginesAdvanced proficiency with LabVIEW, including custom VIs and automated test sequencesFamiliarity with NI hardware (e.g., PXI, cDAQ, cRIO)Experience with engine instrumentation, emissions measurement, and calibrationExperience with basic mechanical design and CAD modeling for test components or fixturesBackground in performance development, durability testing, or emissions testingWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation packageOpportunities for technical growth in a hands-on, test-focused roleA collaborative team culture focused on execution, problem-solving, and high-quality engineeringJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveTuition reimbursementVision insuranceWork Location: In person
