Senior Counsel - Labor amp Employment
Job OverviewA law firm seeks a highly motivated litigation attorney for their Greenbelt, MD office. The role requires five to seven years of litigation experience, with a minimum of five years in employment law litigation. This position offers the opportunity to assume substantial responsibility in a dynamic practice. The role includes potential for hybrid work.ResponsibilitiesRepresent clients from intake to trial in employment, labor, qui tam, class actions, and other legal proceedings.Advocate for clients before administrative agencies, arbitrations, and in court.Conduct legal research and advise clients on legal rights, responsibilities, and strategies.Draft and review legal pleadings, discovery, law and motion, employment agreements, and settlement agreements.Build and maintain client relationships.Negotiate settlements.Examine and vet intakes to determine advisability of representation.Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations.Coordinate with paralegals and legal assistants.RequirementsLicense to practice law in Maryland.Minimum 5-7 years in practice with at least 5 years of labor & employment litigation experience.Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem‑solve, and work independently.Advanced legal research and writing capabilities.Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.Exceptional oral and written communication skills.Strong ethical standards and professional integrity.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Outstanding time management and organizational skills.Proficiency in legal research databases including Westlaw and/or Lexis.Ability to handle high‑pressure environments and tight deadlines.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.CertificationsAdmission to D.C. and/or Virginia Bar.Skills & ExperienceExperience representing federal employees.Experience managing complex ESI production.Experience litigating complex cases including employment class actions and qui tam.Trial experience.Experience managing associates and law clerks.Proficient in Spanish.Transferrable book of business a bonus but not required.Strong connections within the legal community.Board memberships in legal associations.Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Lexis Nexis.BenefitsCompetitive salary and benefits package.
