Associate Attorney - Labor and Employment

Job Overview A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate Attorney specializing in Labor and Employment for their Greenbelt, MD office. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic practice and quickly assume substantial responsibility. The position allows for potential hybrid work and includes a competitive benefits package. Responsibilities Represent clients from intake to trial in employment, labor, qui tam, class actions, and other legal proceedings. Advocate for clients before administrative agencies, arbitrations, and in court. Conduct legal research and advise clients on legal rights, responsibilities, and strategies. Draft and review legal pleadings, discovery, law and motion, employment agreements, and settlement agreements. Build and maintain client relationships. Negotiate settlements. Examine and vet intakes to determine advisability of representation. Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations. Coordinate with paralegals and legal assistants. Requirements License to practice law in Maryland. Minimum 2–3 years in practice with at least 2 years of labor and employment litigation experience. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem‑solve, and work independently. Advanced legal research and writing capabilities. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Strong ethical standards and professional integrity. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Outstanding time management and organizational skills. Proficiency in legal research databases including Westlaw and/or Lexis. Ability to handle high‑pressure environments and tight deadlines. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Certifications Admission to D.C. and/or Virginia Bar (a plus). Skills and Experience Experience representing Federal employees. Experience managing complex ESI production. Experience litigating complex cases including employment class actions and qui tam matters. Trial experience. Experience managing associates and law clerks. Proficient in Spanish. Transferable book of business is a bonus but not required. Strong connections within the legal community. Board memberships in legal associations. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Lexis Nexis.
