Working closely with site-based medical directors and senior leadership, this physician executive ensures the delivery of exceptional patient-centered care while aligning hospital medicine strategy with system priorities.This role blends leadership and clinical engagement and requires a dynamic physician leader who thrives in complex, multi-site environments and is passionate about advancing hospital medicine at scale.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Service Line LeadershipDevelop and execute a forward-looking vision for hospital medicine across multiple marketsAlign service line goals with BJC Medical Group and system-wide strategic prioritiesIdentify opportunities for growth, innovation, and new care delivery models (including telemedicine and emerging technologies)Guide program development, expansion, and integration across diverse marketsClinical Excellence & QualityChampion evidence-based care, patient safety, and clinical standardizationMonitor and improve key quality metrics, patient outcomes, and performance indicatorsServe as a clinical thought leader and resource for complex care and decision-makingAdvance continuous improvement and best-practice implementation across all sitesOperational & Financial LeadershipOversee provider staffing models, recruitment strategies, and scheduling in partnership with operational leadersGuide budget management, resource allocation, and financial performanceCollaborate with hospital and market leadership to address operational challenges and optimize performanceEnsure compliance with regulatory and organizational standardsLeadership & Team DevelopmentMentor and develop hospitalist medical directors, physicians, and APP leadersFoster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and engagementServe as a trusted liaison between frontline teams and executive leadershipSupport leadership development and succession planning across the service lineData, Performance & Stakeholder EngagementTrack and analyze KPIs including LOS, readmissions, patient experience, and productivityProvide strategic insights and regular reporting to senior leadershipBuild strong partnerships with administrators, physicians, and community stakeholdersRepresent hospital medicine in system-level initiatives and strategic planningWork Environment:This position requires frequent travel between markets and facilities. Flexibility to adapt to diverse operational needs and market dynamics is essential. The providers are nationally recognized for excellent patient satisfaction and quality health care.BJC Medical Group physicians are trained and certified in over 25 medical specialties and serve patients in more than 125 locations in the greater St. Louis, mid-Missouri and southern Illinois areas.Preferred QualificationsRole PurposeThe physician will provide professional medical services within the practicing Specialty to the best of physicians ability through direct patient care and spend additional time as necessary to perform other related duties such as completing medical records, providing MyChart consultations and inbasket management, conducting patient-specific education and collaborating with advanced practice providers and care team members.ResponsibilitiesManages the medical care of patient panel by providing or otherwise arranging for inpatient hospital care of physicians patients, either through regular hospital rounds, making arrangements with one or more hospitalist(s) or other qualified physician to provide coverage for physicians hospitalized patients consistent with Medical Staff requirements.Collaborates with patients, families, and members of the care team to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at the clinic location(s) designated by BJC and any other BJC clinical outreach location to which physician may be assigned as patient care demands.Performs and documents medical histories and physicals in the patients medical record as required by hospital medical staff bylaws.Provides or arranges for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in a manner acceptable to BJC and in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws, while observing and following all BJC policies and procedures and all applicable legal, ethical and professional standards.Collaborates and teaches advanced practice providers, support staff or any care team member assigned in the care of physicians patient panel.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
