Category: FacultyShow Job Details for Assistant Professor of Scenic DesignApply Now for Assistant Professor of Scenic DesignThe Western Kentucky University Department of Theatre & Dance is seeking an Assistant Professor in Scenic Design to begin in the fall 2026 semester. The candidate will teach and supervise the set design for all department productions, either designing, co-designing, or mentoring student designers. This is a pedagogical assistant professor position focusing on the training of theatre design and technology students. A typical course load will be 4 to 5 classes a year, including Design I, Stagecraft, and Set Design. This may also include additional topics based on the candidate's areas of expertise and departmental needs. Occasional courses in the department's general education curriculum may also be included. There is also an expectation for service such as committee work, recruiting, and other administrative responsibilities.Job Requirements:Terminal degree (Ph.D. or M.F.A.) in the field of theatre design and/or technology which includes graduate level experience in design.Professional experience in design or technology.Evidence of competency in computer-aided drafting applications.Additional Information:Kentucky state law requires all public institutions of postsecondary education to conduct pre-employment criminal background checks to determine suitability for employment.Western Kentucky University (WKU) is committed to a policy and practice of providing equal employment and educational opportunities to all individuals.
