SEMS Consultant
Kerndell is seeking an additional experienced SEMS Consultant to grow Kerndell's team in supporting our clients who are involved in Gulf of Mexico deepwater drilling and P&A operations. This is a contract, project-based role based in Houston, Texas, with the ability to travel to the client’s office as needed.The successful candidate will work directly with Kerndell’s quality lead and the client’s operational and HSE team to develop, refine, organize, the implementation of field-ready SEMS documentation. The documentation must align with API RP 75 and 30 CFR 250 Subpart S for a BSEE-regulated offshore operating environment.This role is well suited to an independent contractor who can produce high-quality regulatory and operational documentation with minimal supervision, while also engaging professionally with client personnel and supporting practical field implementation. The assignment is expected to last 6 months.Requirements 3+ years of technical writing experience in offshore oil and gas or a closely related energy sector. Demonstrated experience developing SEMS documentation aligned to API RP 75 elements. Working knowledge of 30 CFR 250 Subpart S and BSEE regulatory expectations. Ability to work independently within an active client engagement under Kerndell's engagement lead. Strong written English; US spelling and formatting standards required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word; document control experience required. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience supporting GOM deepwater drilling programs. Familiarity with contractor management documentation within SEMS frameworks. Background in safety, quality, or environmental management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, or similar). Experience producing ITPs, bridging documents, or critical equipment documentation for offshore operations. Relevant certifications (SEMS, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent).
