Job Overview Flexan, an Ingersoll Rand business, is seeking a Cost Accountant with manufacturing experience who brings strong analytical capability and sound accounting fundamentals. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting manufacturing operations through cost and variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead), inventory and asset accounting, and month-end close activities. Beyond execution, the role plays a key part in strengthening costing processes, improving data integrity, and enhancing reporting and internal controls that help move the organization forward. The successful candidate is both a doer and a thinker-comfortable in a plant-based environment, energized by change, and motivated by translating complex manufacturing data into clear, actionable insight. Sitting at the intersection of accounting and financial analysis, this role supports budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting tied directly to production performance. Responsibilities: Cost Analysis: Conduct analysis on product costs, manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, hours), inventory valuation, capital spending, and fixed asset managementReporting: Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly financial KPIs to aid in decision makingMonth End Close and Accounting: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliationsInternal Controls: Ensure compliance with company policy and proceduresStandard Cost Management: Review, update, and maintain standard costs and assist senior management in maintaining a robust business costing systemBudgeting and Forecasting: Support the development of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly outlooks, focused on cost optimization and profitability improvementsSystem and Process Improvements: Support improvements to ERP configurations and drive efforts to streamline processes, standardize reporting, and implement dashboardsRequirements:Bachelor 's degree3+ years of direct cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment3+ years of experience performing product cost analysis and manufacturing variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, and hours).3+ years of ERP accounting module experience, such as JDE, Oracle, SAPCore Competencies: Solid understanding of U.S. GAAPAnalytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data and derive actionable insights.Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies issues and implements effective solutions.Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to support cross-departmental initiatives.Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.Manufacturing: Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing operations concepts/reportingPreferences:Degree concentration: Accounting or FinanceProfessional certification in accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA)Experience in inventory valuation, capital spending, and fixed asset management.IQMS software experienceTravel & Work ArrangementsThis position may sit in Lincolnshire or Chicago, IL or Salt Lake City, UTHybrid Schedule: 3 in office, 2 work from homePay Range: The pay range for this role is $75,000-$105,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
