To support this mission, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Controller to join our team.Position OverviewThe Controller plays a crucial role in overseeing the accounting departments' operations and ensuring that all financial activities align with our established procedures and accounting guidelines. This position will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.Key Responsibilities (Summarized, See Full Job Description)Record Keeping: Maintain accurate CEC records and accounting files.General Ledger: Oversee ledger activities, including reconciliations, assets, liabilities, receivables, payables, and journal entries, following GAAP and RUS guidelines.Accounts Payable: Manage all accounts payable activities.Financial Closures: Handle monthly and year-end closing processes.Clearing Accounts: Maintain clearing accounts and ensure proper expense or capitalization.Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly summaries, analyses, and scorecard reports.Form 7 Preparation: Complete the annual Form 7 with supporting details.Audit Support: Assist with external audit reviews and procedures.Budget Management: Help prepare annual budgets and monitor monthly budget vs. actual performance.Fund Management: Ensure proper handling of receipts and disbursements with financial institutions.Invoicing & Collections: Oversee invoicing, receivables, and collections.Payroll Management: Supervise payroll activities, including processing, tax payments, and reports.System Administration: Manage iVUE, banking, credit cards, and vendor systems.Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed to support CEC's management practices.Minimum QualificationsPhysical and Mental Fitness: Ability to handle extensive computer work, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience. CPA is a plus but not required.Financial Knowledge: Extensive understanding of accounting principles, including RUS Accounting.Accounting Skills: Significant experience in general accounting, budgeting, purchasing, data processing, insurance, payroll, AP/AR, and cash management.Management Ability: Proven skills in managing and directing teams effectively.Technical Proficiency: Skilled in accounting software, MS Office, MS Teams, and other relevant software.Professional Representation: Ability to represent the Cooperative positively in public and media.Work Schedule: Flexibility for extended hours during busy periods and occasional travel.Competency Test: Must pass a competency test, as determined by the employer.Cherryland Electric Cooperative is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
