INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROLS ENGINEER

Intermountain Power Service Corporation is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to provide expert level engineering support for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a large-scale power generation facility. This full-time position focuses on DCS and PLC systems, instrumentation, monitoring, and control logic that support power plant operations. The position also includes electrical engineering responsibilities, such as power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, protective relaying, grounding systems, equipment integration, and coordination between electrical and control systems.Depending on experience and qualifications, this position may be filled at the Associate Engineer, Engineer, or Lead Engineer level.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and troubleshoot plant control systems and instrumentationDevelop, review, and implement control logic, specifications, drawings, and system modificationsPerform field investigations, testing, and system performance analysisInitiate, lead, and support plant upgrades, capital projects, outages, and system commissioning activitiesLead project management activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and operational performanceProvide technical support to Operations and Maintenance teamsMaintain accurate technical documentation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standardsInterface with plant personnel, engineers, technicians, and external stakeholders.QualificationsBachelor degree or higher from an EAC/ABET or CEAB accredited engineering program or a current Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the State of UtahExperience with industrial control systems (power generation experience preferred)Experience with DCS, PLCs, HMIs, control logic, and associated field instrumentation Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards Ability to prepare specifications, technical documentation, and engineering reports.Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to pass an employment background/surety check.Competitive wages, strong benefits, and a stable, team-oriented work environment.
