Applications Project Engineer

Based in Houston, TX (Aldine Westfield), the Applications Project Engineer is a critical role in the execution of complex engineered to order projects from conception to completion. These large-scale and customized projects integrate Appleton's solutions in industrial low-voltage power distribution and control, lighting, and heat trace systems. Your resourcefulness and problem solving abilities will drive exceptional solutions for our customers. Your proactive attitude will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve quality and customer satisfaction.In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:Lead major customer-facing projects that involve highly customized solutions and large-scale ordersDrive high-value projects requiring engagement from bid preparation to purchase order planning and executionEngage with customer-facing teams to design and provide solutions aligned with client expectations and requirementsServe as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and issue resolutionDevelop project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies with operationsCoordinate with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, procurement, and operationsDemonstrate technical competence in electrical design principles through both theoretical knowledge and practical applicationRead and interpret schematics, elevation drawings, technical drawings and datasheetsDevelop, review and approve technical drawings and documentation packagesPerform simple to intermediate electrical calculations, simulations, and risk assessmentsEnsure projects and builds are in compliance with electrical codes and our product certificationsSupport continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reductionWho You Are:You follow through on commitments and make sure others do the same. You anticipate future trends and implications accurately.For This Role, You Will Need:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant engineering experienceA minimum of 5 years of related engineering experiencePractical electrical engineering experience with low voltage power systemsAdvanced skills in CAD tools (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Creo, EPLAN, or similar 3D software)Ability to interpret technical documents and provide application supportHands-on testing experience using electrical measurement toolsStrong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and international electrical standardsExcellent communication and project management abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this rolePreferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:Introductory experience with hazardous area applications, including control systems, instrumentation, and low voltage power distributionKnowledge of hazardous location classifications, protection methods (Ex d, Ex e, Ex i), and global standards (NEC, IEC, API)Managing projects of various complexitiesExperience in a manufacturing environment with strong teamwork skillsFamiliarity with electrical power distribution and control equipmentDemonstrated problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent organizational abilities and ability to manage tasks and projects effectivelyOur Culture & Commitment to You:At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
