Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Minimum Qualifications:Endorsement - current CCC-SLP Annual Certification AND Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist LicenseMust meet or exceed requirements specified with NCA Standards for Accreditation and No Child Left BehindExtensive knowledge of special education rules, guidelines and proceduresStrong verbal and written communication skills; strong project management skillsDemonstrates strong consultation skills for supporting special education skills in inclusive settingsDemonstrates expertise in collaborative teaching to support special education students in inclusive settingsResponsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:Provide specialized, group and individualized speech/language instruction to Special Education students in general education through push-in and pull-out service delivery modelsAdhere to Michigan's speech/language guidelines for eligibility, service delivery and exit criteriaProvide consultative support to the general education teachers through routinely scheduled consultation related to the progress of identified studentsManage student behaviors and maximize student engagement/achievementFacilitate open, continuous communication with general education staff, administrators and parentsDevelop, coordinate and conduct REEDs, METs, and IEPsAdminister and interpret comprehensive speech/language testing for annual and three-year reevaluations utilizing standard and nonstandard assessment proceduresFamiliarity and participation in the student support team processMaintain accurate and complete records, according to district policies/procedures and IDEA lawCollaborate with early intervention providers, such as Head Start and StottlemeyerAttend all Special Education and building staff meetings and professional developmentParticipate in building and/or district committeesAdhere to policies of the Westwood Community Board of EducationPerform other duties as may be assigned by the Special Education Director or Building PrincipalKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogyKnowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and studentsAbility and patience to work interactively with studentsSkill in organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with improved curriculum and standardsExcellent skills in verbal and written communicationAbility to understand the individual needs of each studentAbility to effectively use Google Suite and the student information system - MiStarAbility to take accurate and timely attendanceAbility to check and respond to email at least 3 times a day - before school, during prep, and after schoolSalary:Salary to be according to the current contract with Wayne County MEA/NEATerms of Employment:Ten-month school yearHow to ApplyApply online at: https://www.westwoodschools.net/apps/pages/ and click the "Job Opportunities" tab.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
