Network EngineerClearance (Required): Active Top Secret (TS/SCI)Certifications (Required):CompTIA Security+ (Security+) or equivalent (DoD 8570/8140 compliant)Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalentPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Tier 3 Network Engineer to support the Electronic Security System (ESS) and LENEL network infrastructure within a high-security DoD environment at USSOUTHCOM.This role is built for an operator—someone who doesn’t just maintain networks, but owns them end-to-end: engineering, troubleshooting, security, and lifecycle management. You will serve as the highest level of technical escalation, solving complex problems, improving system resilience, and ensuring mission continuity across classified environments.Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Engineering & OperationsOwn ESS/LENEL network infrastructure lifecycle, including design, implementation, O&M, and modernizationOperate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network devices, services, and security hardwareProvide Tier 3 support, resolving complex or previously unknown technical issuesDevelop, test, and implement solutions and courses of action for critical system failuresNetwork Security & MonitoringConfigure and manage network security hardware to detect and respond to threatsLeverage FCAPS framework for proactive monitoring and performance managementMonitor and analyze SIEM outputs, investigate alerts, and tune rule sets to reduce false positivesEnsure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and CYBERCON requirementsCore Infrastructure ServicesManage and support:DNS (IPv4 primary & secondary)Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, DHCP, CertificatesAAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) and network access controlImplement and maintain log management and retention policiesSystems, Storage & VirtualizationAdminister and troubleshoot:Storage Area Networks (SAN) and enterprise storage solutionsVirtualized environments and automated provisioning systemsDevelop and execute backup and recovery strategies, including testing and validationEnterprise OperationsSupport:Application operations and system lifecycle managementEnd-user device provisioning, patching, and monitoringPassword management systemsPerform system imaging, deployment, patching, and monitoringIncident Response & SupportRespond to critical outages within 2 hours (on-call rotation required)Maintain after-hours standby support rosterAdhere to all incident handling and reporting proceduresProgram & Advisory SupportTrack and manage maintenance agreements and vendor support (Lenel, SolarWinds, Microsoft, NetApp, etc.)Provide technical recommendations and procurement guidance for ESS and physical security systemsSupport physical security operations, including systems tied to access control, screening, and facility protectionExperience5+ years of experience in:Network engineering within DoD or high-security environmentsTier 3 troubleshooting and escalation supportStrong experience with:Network security tools, SIEM, and monitoring platformsEnterprise networking (routing, switching, firewalls)Active Directory and core infrastructure servicesVirtualization and storage environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting USSOUTHCOM or Combatant Command environmentsFamiliarity with:Lenel access control systemsSolarWinds, NetApp, Thales, Quest environmentsKnowledge of:CMMC, NIST 800-171, RMF frameworksAdvanced certifications (e.g., CCNP, CASP+, CISSP)What Success Looks LikeYou solve problems others can’tYou stabilize and secure mission-critical systems under pressureYou anticipate failures before they happenYou operate like an owner—not a ticket-takerWhy TaureanAt Taurean, we don’t just advise—we operate.You’ll be part of a team that takes ownership of execution in real environments where performance matters.If it doesn’t run, it doesn’t matter.
