Learn more about Sandia at: http://www.sandia.gov*These benefits vary by job classification.What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to assist in a wide variety of duties associated with systems engineering, mechanical component testing, and mechanical design including mechanical development for rapid prototyping.On any given day, you may be called on to:End-to-end high-consequence process/capability research and development using robotics, programmable logic controllers, and digital twinsDesign mechanical componentsTest and evaluate against design requirementsDue to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.Salary Range$117,500 - $235,700*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.Qualifications We RequireA Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and developmentAn active DOE Q clearance, or equivalent is required to startQualifications We DesireThe ideal R&D S&E Mechanical Engineer candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation)Experience with mechanical engineering and product realization in the NNSA complexStrong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teamsAlso, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:Experience in one or more of the following areas::Robotics, and automationSolidworks modeling toolsMATLAB or similar engineering-based simulation or programming toolsTest planning, documentation, execution, data collection, and reportingDeveloping and delivering fieldable and/or flight-quality hardwareDemonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and sometimes vague requirementsDemonstrated experience as a successful and effective project leaderDemonstrated commitment to developing yourself and your skillsAbout Our TeamThe Analytical and Tritium Technologies Department is responsible for performing chemical and physical testing of materials and components for the Neutron Tube and Neutron Generator Production Programs within the Neutron Generator Production Center. The Department consists of laboratories specializing in defect/failure analysis, surface chemistry, radiochemistry, metallurgy and Ceramics, wet-chemistry and instrumental analysis, gas dynamics and mass spectrometry and particulate contamination control. Our goal is to provide technical expertise, consultation and analysis capabilities required to support the Centers production mission.Posting DurationThis posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of three (3) calendar days, including the 'posting date'.
