Senior Civil Designer | Northern VirginiaIMEG is seeking a Senior Civil Designer specializing in Civil Land Development Projects to join our Civil team in Northern Virginia locations (Fairfax, Manassas, Leesburg, Warrenton). In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of large, complex land development projects in the public and private sectors, working closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, advanced engineering solutions, and client-focused outcomes. You will oversee engineering analysis, design, and implementation, review work by others, and ensure projects meet IMEG's high standards. Lead design efforts for civil land development projects, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports
Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
Provide in-process design reviews, implement IMEG quality control processes, and ensure engineering solutions meet quality, industry, and client standards
Provide technical training and mentoring to team members; assist in resolving field issues with minimal support from senior staff
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation within IMEG
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all engineering work; interpret and apply state and local design criteria to project needs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions
Participate in project interviews and presentations
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the civil engineering consulting industry
OR
Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred
14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in the civil engineering consulting or construction industry
Lead the design and analysis of Civil Engineering project features utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
