Location:Rochester Hills, MI
Job Type:6-Month Contract (Potential Extension or Conversion)
Compensation:$40–45/hour + PTO and Optional Benefits
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer will support the General Manager and Injection Molding Manager in maintaining and improving all Quality Management System (QMS) activities related to production and tooling. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and supporting new product launches.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as theQuality Management Representative
Oversee, coordinate, and maintain all QMS activities and certifications
Establish and maintain document and data control systems
ManagePPAP processesfor new product launches
Support departments in developing:
Procedures
Work instructions
Quality forms
Job descriptions
Act as the lead representative for registration and surveillance audits
Conduct internal audits
Collaborate with customers to resolve quality issues
LeadAdvanced Quality Planning (APQP)activities for new launches and product changes
Assist with procurement of quality-related supplies
Ensure calibration of all precision measuring equipment
Collect and analyze data for statistical process control
Train manufacturing teams on quality systems and processes
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum3 years of experiencein Quality Management Systems
Formal training in QMS implementation
Experience inautomotive manufacturingpreferred; aerospace experience is a plus
Strong understanding of quality certification standards (e.g., ISO or equivalent)
Proven track record ofcontinuous improvement initiatives
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Effective communication and presentation skills
Experience calibrating precision measuring instruments
Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to maintain regular, reliable attendance
Flexibility to work schedules as needed to meet business demands
May require prolonged sitting or standing
Exposure to varying noise levels in a manufacturing environment
May work around solvents, chemicals, or other potential irritants
Occasional travel to customer sites or other facilities may be required
Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment with minimal supervision
Work closely with team members in a collaborative setting
