Infrastructure Design Technician (Contract/Remote)

Infrastructure Design Technician (Full Time, 8 month Contract | Remote)Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking an Infrastructure Design Technician to support the design, provisioning, and maintenance of telecommunications network infrastructure records within a large-scale carrier environment. This role will focus on designing internal network circuit paths, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting the fulfillment of transport network orders across optical, Ethernet, and transport technologies. The Infrastructure Design Technician will work closely with engineering, planning, provisioning, and operations teams to ensure network designs accurately reflect the physical infrastructure and support ongoing network expansion, maintenance, and service delivery initiatives. The ideal candidate brings experience with telecom transport networks, circuit provisioning, inventory management systems, and fiber infrastructure documentation. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a production-driven environment, and a solid understanding of telecommunications network architecture and transport services.Responsibilities:Design and maintain Layer 1 circuit layout records within TIRKS and other network inventory systems to accurately reflect network infrastructure.Design, provision, and process internal network orders supporting DWDM, SONET, Ethernet, TDM, and IP transport services.Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, and Operations teams to support network builds, equipment deployments, and circuit provisioning activities.Maintain and update network inventory records, ensuring data accuracy and resolving discrepancies across multiple systems.Analyze fiber routing, circuit paths, and transport network configurations to support customer and infrastructure requirements.Provide technical support for network provisioning, testing, maintenance activities, and service restoration efforts.Manage assigned work queues and provisioning requests while meeting established SLA, quality, and performance targets.Apply today if your background includes:Experience designing and provisioning telecom transport circuits across DWDM, SONET, Ethernet, and TDM networksStrong background utilizing TIRKS and other telecom inventory systems such as OMNIvue, WFMT, WMS, or BOSSKnowledge of optical transport technologies and equipment including Ciena, Fujitsu, and Alcatel-Lucent platformsExperience maintaining accurate Layer 1 network inventory records, circuit layouts, and infrastructure documentationUnderstanding of fiber optic network architecture, routing, cross-connects, and inside plant fiber designProven ability to manage provisioning orders, design queues, and meet SLA-driven delivery timelinesExperience working within carrier or telecommunications environments supporting network engineering, planning, and provisioning teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepanciesAbility to work independently in a production-focused environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detailExcellent communication skills with experience collaborating across engineering, planning, installation, and operations teams
