Job Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations in Oxford, Ohio. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for an accounting specialist who enjoys working across core accounting functions, contributing to accurate reporting, and partnering with a collaborative finance team. The role offers hands-on involvement in transactional accounting, reconciliations, and period-end close activities while handling sensitive financial information with discretion.Responsibilities: • Manage accounting activities for multiple non-profit entities, ensuring financial records are complete, organized, and accurate. • Process routine accounting transactions across the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entry preparation. • Collaborate regularly with finance team members to support smooth daily operations and maintain alignment across accounting workflows. • Contribute to monthly and year-end close processes by preparing supporting entries, reviewing activity, and helping meet reporting deadlines. • Reconcile balance sheet and expense accounts, research discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner. • Perform recurring bank and cash reconciliations to confirm the accuracy of financial balances and transaction activity. • Support audit readiness by organizing documentation and assisting the accounting team during year-end audit preparation. • Maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive financial data and internal records. • Assist with additional accounting and administrative assignments as business needs require, including adapting to updated financial systems and tools. • At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role. • Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or equivalent combination of relevant accounting experience. • Working knowledge of general accounting principles, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and period-end close. • Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with strong 10-key skills. • Ability to learn new software systems quickly; experience with accounting platforms such as AccuFund is a plus. • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. • Ability to work on-site in an office environment and manage confidential information responsibly.
