Job Title: Educational Sign Language InterpreterLocation: Yreka, CAJob Type: Contract / Full-Time (Onsite)Pay Rate: Competitive – Market AlignedAbout the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support students with hearing impairments in a school setting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equal access to education by facilitating communication between students, teachers, and peers in a mainstream classroom environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide real-time sign language interpretation for students in classroom settingsFacilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peersSupport students in understanding instructional content and classroom discussionsAssist with note-taking and tutoring when interpretation is not requiredParticipate in meetings as part of the educational support teamContribute to a positive and inclusive learning environmentMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentMust meet California Department of Education Educational Interpreting Standards, including one of the following:RID Certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or equivalentMinimum score of 4.0 or higher on one of the following assessments:EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment)ESSE-I/R (Educational Sign Skills Evaluation – Interpreter/Receptive)NAD/ACCI AssessmentIf you’re passionate about making education accessible and empowering students with hearing impairments, we’d love to connect with you!
