Civil Project Engineer | Pierre, SDIMEG is hiring a Civil Project Engineer in Pierre, SD, to lead low- to moderate-complexity civil site design projects and support larger, high-complexity project delivery alongside senior staff. You'll provide engineering solutions and advice to clients-supporting analysis, design, field inspections, reports, permit applications, and site drainage/grading designs-while working within project budgets and collaborating across teams.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead design efforts for civil site design projects (commercial, residential, and industrial)Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools per code requirements and IMEG standardsComplete and oversee permit applications with the project team, client, and reviewing jurisdictionsPerform surface modeling, watershed modeling, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer designSupport projects through bidding and construction administrationPartner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong working relationshipsLead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and client direction while monitoring percent complete and fee expendedAnalyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers/consultants on practical approachesPrioritize safety and regulatory compliance by interpreting state/local design criteria and applying them to project needsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned with project goals; identify potential project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager as neededRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction IndustryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills in the civil engineering fieldAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffAbility to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and designExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorshipWhy Join Us IMEG puts people first-with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
