The elementary grade curriculum includes Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Religion, and Math.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree or post-graduate work in Elementary Education.Washington State teaching certificate with an endorsement in Elementary Education (K-6).Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.Demonstrate an understanding of the Catholic faith and know ways to integrate Catholic teaching into other subject areas and daily activities.Understanding of appropriate local and state standards.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Communicate expectations verbally and in writing for learning and achievement.Consistently convey rigorous expectations to students and parents.Conduct learning activities that are aligned to lesson objectives and power standards.Demonstrates effective teaching practices by:Effectively utilize research-based instructional practices.Aligning instructional behaviors with best practices of the learning process.Remaining current in content-related pedagogy.Effectively modify curriculum and differentiate instructional practices to support student learning. Recognizes individual student learning needs and develops strategies to address those needs by:Knowing and utilizing intervention strategies under the appropriate conditions.Communicating clear learning targets.Providing a student-centered lesson and unit structure.Identifying the critical content to be taught within the allotted time. Fosters and manages a safe, positive learning environment by:Establishing positive relationships with all students.Organizing the environment and the lesson to the extent that transitions between activities do not take away from instructional time. Uses multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning by:Using data to modify instruction as appropriate.Assessing student learning multiple times throughout a lesson.Frequently asking students to reflect on their own learning.Using a variety of formative assessments. Job is open until filled.
