Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Prescott Valley, Arizona.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: ICU - Intensive Care UnitDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/15/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 15, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU/PCU travel assignment in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active AZ or Compact RN licensure.DetailsAcute care hospital setting in an ICU/PCU combined acuity unit (Multi Care Unit) with 10 bedsPatient population includes medical ICU cases such as sepsis, suicide attempt, drug/alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, post-op complications, and PCU patients on non-titratable infusionsPatient ratios vary by acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6; if no nurse aide, RN takes 1:3 with primary care responsibilitiesRNs are required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulinRespiratory therapy support available for vents, BiPAP, and CPAP; RNs must perform 12-lead EKGs and monitor ICU patients via bedside cardiac monitorRemote monitor techs support PCU and MST patients via telemetryCharting system: Cerner12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday for nights)Holiday rotation appliesLow census standby rotation in placeFloating required to EC MST and Pediatric units for adult MST assignments, and to the West Campus ICU/PCU to maintain competency; two-hour notice given before floatingTravelers are first to floatRequirementsActive AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not acceptedCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not acceptedMinimum 2 years of ICU experience required; 1 year ICU + 1 year PCU/Med-Surg may be considered for candidates with strong skills from larger facilitiesMust pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of at least 80% within two attempts prior to contract signingDriver's license required for consideration2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehireAdditional InformationCandidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license) to be eligible for this positionCandidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be consideredA sterile technique skills test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation; failing the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status with CommonSpirit AZ facilitiesA manager interview is part of the selection processScrubs: any color except camouflageHospital and unit-specific orientation provided (12 hours)Charge RN oversees 50 inpatient beds including MST, PEDS, and the acuity-adaptable MCU unitAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-708973.
