Role : Sr HIL Validation Engineer
Location : Troy, MI (Onsite from Day 1)
Duration : Full Time or Contact
Must Have : Experience setting up a HiL, understanding of the open-loop model setup and interaction with the wiring, HiL testing, test case development, validation, experience with propulsion systems or propulsion system testing.
Responsibilities:
The Senior HiL Validation Engineer will execute the Hardware in the Loop testing for the vehicle propulsion, electrical and software architectures. This Engineer will develop, implement, and validate the real-time models of the electrical and software designs of our electric vehicles. The candidate will work closely with the Software Team, Electrical Team, and Propulsion Team to build the HiL Bench and create a correlated Digital Twin. The validation engineer will generate test cases and analyze results to ensure program requirements are met.
Responsibilities include:
Manage the HiL testing and validation program for the EV Propulsion System
Work closely with Software, Electrical, and Propulsion teams on the integration of multiple control units on the HiL
Real-time modeling of physical systems as needed
Collaborate with Software, Electrical, and Propulsion teams to develop DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and HiL validation plans
Write detailed test specifications and test scripts based on system and component requirements. Generate a testing plan that achieves targets at various milestones
Analyze and visualize large data sets from various data sources to understand the use cases and validation criteria
Post-processing and analysis of experimental data to validate and inform models
Technical communication of analysis results and tradeoffs
Root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and escalation of risks to keep software development process on track
Identify opportunities for automation. Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency
Participate in Agile Software development processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer Software, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.
Minimum five (5) years experience in designing and developing HiL systems
Minimum three (3) years experience in using systems modeling platforms for test development, test automation, test requirements development, execution and reporting
Minimum two (2) years experience working with low voltage and high voltage systems
Excellent communication, team building, and relationship building skills.
Specific experience includes:
Open and closed-loop control systems for sensors, actuators, vehicle controllers, etc.
Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
Electric vehicle system simulation, requirements, testing, and validation
CAN-Bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocol
CAN tools such as CANalyzer, P-CAN, Kvaser, CANoe, CANApe, etc.
Experience in HiL simulators, dSPACE preferred (dSPACE Scalexio, ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk, AutomationDesk or similar)
MATLAB, Simulink, and State flowcharts
Knowledge in scripting languages (such as Python)
Knowledge with a requirements management tool, such as Polarion or DOORS
8D, five whys, and other structured problem solving tools to diagnose complex issues
Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, SAE, etc.
