This position is responsible for the management of the Health Information Management Department including:Supervision of medical records management for all of Sheltering Arms inpatient, outpatient and physician services including technology and support servicesTimely and accurate management of patient record systems and processesStaff development and departmental recruitingStrategic planning and oversight of related organizational initiativesApplication of legal principles, policies, regulations and standards for the control and the use of protected health informationEnsuring the services provided by the department meet the needs of both internal and external customersSuccessful Candidates Will Possess The FollowingBachelor’s degree in a related fieldAt least 5 years HIM experience, including 3 or more years’ in a management role with progressive responsibilitiesCurrent RHIA or RHIT certificationKnowledge of State and Federal laws governing the release of protected health information and USCDI regulationsKnowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding and application of coding procedures to accurately, effectively and efficiently capture services renderedKnowledge of the federal requirements of the Prospective Payment System in the acute inpatient rehab setting including the inpatient rehabilitation patient assessment instrument rules and regulationsKnowledge of regulations, accreditation and professional standards of practice for health information managementExcellent communication skills with the ability to educate, train, understand and react effectively to the unique needs of internal and external customersStrong critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skillsQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
