Heavy Haul Driver 3This position is responsible for the safe transportation of industrial and commercial parts and small equipment to and from various customer job locations and branch stores, while adhering to company safety regulations and state laws. This position has major responsibilities to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction. Must be able obtain a DOT Physical and possess a valid commercial driver license class a with proper endorsements. Must have a safe driver record.Requirements: Generally has more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Possesses moderate knowledge of the field's standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting.The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.Essential Functions:Transports all equipment deliveries and pickups in a positive, caring manner while striving for promptness, accuracy, and efficiencySecures equipment onto the truck and ensures that materials meet state and federal guidelines for safe transport and vehicle capabilities. Assists other departments whenever required in an efficient mannerCompletes DOT-required drivers' daily logs accurately and without misrepresentationCompletes driver's daily inspection report, making recommendations for repair or maintenance, as well as being responsible for the clean appearance of the company assigned vehicleOn an accurate and timely basis, completes and submits all related documentation to maintain the established business systems/process and ensures that the company is achieving its business goals. (I.e. Rental agreements, equipment check-out and check-in reports return receipts, pick up receipts, non-movement, permits, etc.)Ensures that all physical resources (overall shop appearance, staging area, tools, parts, inventory, personal hygiene, etc.) are maintained in a clean, working order to ensure a safe working environment and exceptional customer satisfactionPerform pre- and post-vehicle inspection; Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition, before, during, and after delivery tripsWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standardsPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Sound knowledge of industrial engines, transportation, and safe driving proceduresKnowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelinesDemonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systemsKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfactionQuality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performanceOperation and control skills - controlling operations of equipment or systemsEquipment selection skills - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a jobThe ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positionsEducation and Experience:3 years of verifiable heavy haul driving experience required, over 5 years preferred3 years' verifiable driving experience operating a 7 or 8-axle configuration truck required, five or more preferredHigh school or equivalent diploma preferredValid Texas Driver's License with Class A CDL required to include the ability to maintain the Valid Texas Driver's LicenseSupervisory Responsibilities: NoneTravel: Travel up to 100%Physical Requirements:Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the timeMust be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 poundsConstant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and staminaDisclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
