Support Activities for Road TransportationSpecialized Freight TruckingSchool and Employee Bus TransportationTaxi and Limousine ServiceMachinery, Equipment, and Supplies Merchant WholesalersHeavy Haul/Special Transportation DriverJob OverviewThe Specialized Transport Driver will safely operate a commercial industrial carrier or tractor trailer combination with a GVWR rating in excess of 33,000 lbs.Responsibilities And DutiesList of the responsibilities and duties of this job.Report each scheduled day, on‐time, ready and able to work; well‐groomed and in uniformIdentify to the appropriate Dispatcher that you are available to workPerform vehicle inspection sheet daily, identifying any mechanical issues, unreported damage or any.limitations as to the vehicle’s safe operationWear all required safety equipment during work hoursReport all mechanical issues with regard with truck and trailers at the time of discovery to Terminal.Responsible to follow all Company and DOT rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of thetruck.Check fuel level at the end and in the beginning of each shift.Check fluid levels at the end and beginning of each shiftInspect all supplied tools such as chains, straps and cables to ensure equipment is in good and safecondition prior to the departure from the yard each day.Maintain clean truck inside and out, removing all trash/debris dailyWash exterior and interior of truck three (3) times per weekCommunicate with dispatch center (when safe to do so), meeting all company and DOT regulations via company 2‐way radio or Company provided mobile device of all vehicle information, location and progression of dispatch.Immediately report any issue that restricts the ability to complete the dispatch in a timely manner.Follow all company policies and DOT regulations with regards to the safe loading, securement and transportation of all vehicles, equipment and cargo from the point of pick to the point of completion.Follow all Company procedures with regard to towing, recovery and road service, including the removal of drive shafts and axels.Respectful communication with all dispatchers, co‐workers and customers is paramount to the ongoing success of our company. In the event of any disagreement or situation, it is company policy that you avoid all confrontations and report it to the Terminal Manager immediately.Complete manifests and tow slips as required by the company, local and state agencies as to vehicle, equipment or cargo, by identification or manifest number and point of loading and completion of the towing/ transportation event.Perform any other duties as assignedQualifications/RequirementsList of Qualifications/Requirement for this job.Commercial Class A driver’s license - CDL for Heavy Transport Positions22 Years of AgeHigh school diploma or GED (preferred),At least two (5) years of heavy hauling / commercial driving experienceStrong customer service skills, professional demeanorMust be able to speak, write and communicate in EnglishAbility to communicate calmly and effectivelyBasic technology skills. Ability to use GPS, company-issued software, mobile deviceTime management skillsBasic mechanical skills and ability to use toolsAttention to detail and accuracy when documenting work, hours, and informationPhysical RequirementsList of Physical Requirements for this job.The job requires lifting, crawling, pulling, constant use of hands, significant bending and reaching, climbing. significant physical strength and stamina. Ability to lift and pull at least 50 lbs.
