Job Title: Bench Scientist IIDuration: 12 MonthsLocation: Pearl River, NY, 10965Summary:The main function of a Bench Scientist is to execute laboratory-based experiments that support scientific research, product development, and technical investigations. This role involves hands-on work with analytical and characterisation techniques, contributing directly to data generation, method optimisation, and problem-solving. Bench Scientists differ from lab assistants in that they are responsible for the execution and interpretation of scientific protocols, often working closely with research leads to inform decision-making.Job Responsibilities:Conduct laboratory experiments using established scientific methods to support research and development objectives.Prepare and analyse samples using appropriate instrumentation and techniques.Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in compliance with GLP and internal standards.Collaborate with scientists and project teams to troubleshoot issues and interpret data.Skills:Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation relevant to the scientific discipline.Ability to follow and adapt scientific protocols with attention to detail.Strong documentation and data interpretation skills.Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.Must-Have Technical SkillsHands-on experience running ELISA assaysExperience with MSD platform preferred (ELISA experience acceptable if MSD is not available)Strong basic laboratory skills, including:PipettingBuffer preparationGeneral lab techniques and documentationAbility to follow experimental protocols and ask appropriate scientific questionsPreferred / Plus SkillsExperience with assay development concepts (e.g., antibody titration, optimization, sub-saturating conditions)Experience preparing and characterizing reagents:Antibody biotinylationHABA assay or equivalent techniquesFamiliarity with laboratory automation (e.g., Hamilton, Integra, or similar systems)Experience using or exposure to LIMS / electronic lab notebooksWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Copilot) is a plusExperience LevelTargeting 2-4 years of relevant lab experienceOpen to:Recent Master's graduates with hands-on lab experienceEarly-career candidates who are eager, adaptable, and motivatedNot a senior scientist role; candidate must be willing to perform day-to-day bench workSoft Skills (Critical)Strong communication skillsTeam-oriented, positive attitudeAdaptable and "change-agile" (projects and priorities may shift quickly)Open to learning and feedbackComfortable working in a highly collaborative, supportive team environment
