Job Responsibilities
Prepare patients for physician examination, measure and record at least three vital signs per visit, gather assessment information, and provide patient and family education.
Assess and document patient condition per physician/provider and written policies, manage information, and maintain accurate medical records.
Perform telephone triage, communicate and adjudicate physician orders, document actions, and maintain examination rooms and supplies.
Perform phlebotomy, administer injections and immunizations, and conduct laboratory testing in compliance with policies.
Apply infection prevention, reduction, and control principles appropriate for the medical setting.
Schedule and collaborate on doctors’ orders, procedures, tests, and surgeries; coordinate diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, and hospital admissions.
Obtain authorization from managed care insurers for specialist referrals, maintain authorization records, and counsel patients on insurance requirements.
Inform patients of preparation information, collect co‑pays and deductibles, and demonstrate initiative and willingness to help others.
Perform quality assurance functions to meet regulatory requirements, support management decisions, and contribute to department goals.
Exhibit professional demeanor, compassion, interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude with patients, families, co‑workers, and other healthcare entities.
Attend required continuing education, maintain required licenses, and attend 75% of scheduled department meetings.
Maintain confidentiality of patient visits, records, correspondence, and departmental issues, ensuring patient rights are met.
Comply with all applicable policies and procedures, and participate in performance improvement activities.
Demonstrate knowledge of team dynamics and contribute to multidisciplinary team approaches under the organization’s patient care and function objectives.

Education Requirements
Minimum: Nursing School Graduate
Preferred: Licensed or Certified Practical Nursing
Experience Requirements
Minimum: Previous patient care experience
License/Certification Requirements
Licensed Practice Nurse License in the State of Indiana
BLS through the American Heart Association
