Sr. Accountant/Accounting Manager
Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager (Public Company Reporting)
Location: Great Neck, NY (Hybrid) Salary: $130,000-160,000
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven accounting professional to support financial reporting and corporate accounting functions within a publicly traded company. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in public accounting and experience working in a public company environment. You'll play a key role in the close process, SEC reporting, and working closely with auditors, with exposure to senior leadership and high-impact projects.
Key responsibilities
Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparing journal entries and workpapers
Prepare consolidated financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Equity, OCI)
Assist in the preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, with supporting disclosures and footnotes
Manage consolidations across multiple entities and properties
Prepare cash flow statements and financial reporting schedules
Develop income statement and cash flow projections for management and the Board
Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit requests and deliverables
Prepare technical accounting memos and analyze new accounting pronouncements
Assist with purchase price allocations for acquisitions
Support tax-related filings, including REIT-related schedules
Maintain and update internal controls and support SOX compliance efforts
Prepare debt covenant calculations and lender reporting packages
Assist with investor reporting and presentations
Partner with cross-functional teams on ad hoc projects
What we're looking for
CPA preferred
Experience in public accounting required (Big 4 or similar strongly preferred)
Experience in corporate accounting or SEC reporting for a public company
Strong knowledge of financial close, consolidations, and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q)
Experience working under tight deadlines and fast-paced close cycles
Understanding of accounting for complex transactions (leases, acquisitions, etc.)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred background:
~3+ years in public accounting, plus industry experience at a public company
Real estate or REIT experience is a plus
