Skills Training – Adjunct Instructor (Workforce & Quality / Six Sigma Training)
Position SummaryAdjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired on an as-needed basis. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists learners in reaching their professional goals and for providing effective instruction within the framework of workforce and non-credit training.This role focuses on delivering training in quality management and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma. The instructor will support workforce development by helping individuals and employer partners improve processes, reduce waste, and drive operational excellence.Major ResponsibilitiesPerform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate learner success in assigned coursesProvide course outlines and instructional materials aligned with workforce training objectivesMaintain attendance and progress records according to institutional guidelinesSubmit requested information within established timelinesBe available to learners outside scheduled training time for support and coachingAddress learner concerns and collaborate with program staff as neededMeet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s)Utilize instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel) as appropriateNotify appropriate personnel in the event of absencePromote a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentWorkforce Quality / Six Sigma Training ResponsibilitiesDeliver non-credit courses such as:Lean fundamentals and waste reductionSix Sigma methodologies (with emphasis on Green Belt concepts and above)DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) process improvement frameworkRoot cause analysis and problem-solving techniquesProcess mapping and value stream mappingData collection and analysis for quality improvementStatistical tools and basic data interpretationContinuous improvement culture and change managementFacilitate hands-on, project-based learning using real-world business scenariosGuide learners through practical applications of quality tools and methodologiesSupport employer-based training initiatives and customized process improvement programsIncorporate tools such as Excel for data analysis and reportingStay current with industry standards and best practices in quality and continuous improvementSupport short-term credentialing opportunities and workforce certificationsMinimum QualificationsAbility to effectively teach adult learners in an applied, hands-on learning environmentBachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field OR equivalent professional experienceMinimum of 3–5 years of experience in quality, continuous improvement, or process optimization rolesSix Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) Demonstrated knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologiesStrong ability to translate data and process concepts into practical, easy-to-understand instructionPreferred QualificationsSix Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certificationExperience teaching or delivering workforce or corporate trainingExperience leading or participating in process improvement projectsProficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, or similar)Familiarity with manufacturing, healthcare, or service industry applicationsWork EnvironmentPart-time position. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, or weekend hours based on program and employer needs.
