Skills Training – Adjunct Instructor (Workforce & Office 365 / Excel Training)

Position SummaryAdjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired on an as-needed basis to support workforce and skills training initiatives. The adjunct instructor will create an engaging learning environment that supports adult learners in developing practical digital and productivity skills.This role focuses on delivering non-credit training in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel, while also integrating other productivity tools and emerging technologies such as Microsoft Copilot. The instructor will support workforce development by helping individuals and employer partners build skills in data analysis, communication, collaboration, and AI-enhanced productivity.Major ResponsibilitiesDeliver high-quality instruction in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with a primary focus on ExcelFacilitate student learning through hands-on exercises, real-world scenarios, and applied projectsIntegrate AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot into instruction to enhance productivity and efficiencyProvide course outlines and instructional materials aligned with workforce training objectivesMaintain accurate attendance, progress tracking, and completion recordsSubmit required documentation within established timelinesBe available to support students with questions and skill development outside of scheduled instructionAddress student concerns and collaborate with program staff as neededMeet all scheduled training sessions as assignedUtilize instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas, PowerPoint, Teams) as appropriateNotify appropriate personnel in the event of absencePromote a respectful and inclusive learning environmentWorkforce Office 365 / Excel Training ResponsibilitiesDeliver non-credit courses such as:Microsoft Excel (beginner to advanced)Data analysis and reporting in ExcelFormulas and functions (e.g., XLOOKUP, PivotTables, IF statements)Data visualization, dashboards, and reporting automationMicrosoft Word for business documents and formattingMicrosoft Outlook for email and calendar managementMicrosoft Teams for communication and collaborationMicrosoft PowerPoint for professional presentationsMicrosoft OneDrive and SharePoint for file management and collaborationIntroduction to Microsoft Copilot across Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)Teach practical applications of Copilot, including:Generating reports, summaries, and email draftsAssisting with data analysis and formula generation in ExcelCreating presentations and documents more efficientlyEnhancing meeting productivity through summaries and action itemsDevelop hands-on lab activities using real-world business scenariosCustomize training solutions for employer partners based on skill gaps and operational needsSupport short-term credentialing opportunities (e.g., Microsoft Office Specialist – Excel, Office 365 fundamentals)Stay current with Office 365 updates, Copilot capabilities, and emerging workplace technologiesAssist in evaluating learner outcomes and continuous course improvementMinimum QualificationsAbility to effectively teach adult learners in a hands-on or applied learning environmentAssociate’s degree or higher in business, information technology, or a related field OR equivalent professional experienceMinimum of 2–3 years of professional experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications in a business settingStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis tools, and reporting featuresWorking knowledge of additional Office 365 applications (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint)Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot or similar AI productivity toolsPreferred QualificationsMicrosoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification (Excel, Office 365, or Expert level)Experience teaching or delivering workforce or corporate trainingExperience with advanced Excel tools (e.g., Power Query, Power Pivot, macros/VBA)Experience using or teaching Microsoft Copilot in a professional or training settingFamiliarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)Work EnvironmentPart-time position. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, or weekend hours based on program and employer needs.
