Role overview This is a junior -level, 100% support role focused on troubleshooting and resolving issues in a PostgreSQL environment.
You will handle tickets, investigate data problems, and learn to resolve issues independently while growing your SQL skills.
Key responsibilities Respond to and resolve support tickets involving SQL queries, data issues, and basic performance concerns in PostgreSQL.
Write, run, and debug SQL queries to investigate data discrepancies and reporting problems.
Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or DBAs, following defined support processes and SLAs.
Document ticket steps, fixes, and recurring issues in a clear, reusable format.
Proactively learn tools, internal systems, and database concepts to increase first-contact resolution over time.
Required qualifications 0–2 years of experience with SQL; exposure to PostgreSQL strongly preferred.
Ability to write basic SELECT queries, joins, filters, and simple updates independently.
Comfort working in a ticket-based environment or service desk setting.
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to dig into data problems.
Clear written and verbal communication for explaining issues and documenting resolutions.
Preferred (nice to have) Familiarity with stored procedures and functions (in any SQL flavor); willingness to learn PostgreSQL specifics on the job.
Experience with Jira, Zendesk, or similar ticketing systems.
Exposure to any scripting language or BI/reporting tools.
What success looks like in this role Increasing percentage of tickets solved independently without escalation.
Clean, consistent documentation that helps the team and future hires.
Demonstrated growth in PostgreSQL skills over the first 6–12 months (queries first, then functions/procedures as needed).
