Physician Assistant – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)Boston Medical Center – Brighton | Boston, MA Full-Time | On-SitePosition OverviewBoston Medical Center – Brighton is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) program. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a revitalized campus and expanding specialty service line, focused on delivering high-quality musculoskeletal and spine care to the community.Reporting to department leadership and working under the supervision of a Physiatrist, the PA will play a key role in both direct patient care and program development, helping to build and shape PM&R services at BMC Brighton.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive care in outpatient clinic and inpatient consult settingsPerform history and physical exams, develop diagnoses, and implement treatment plansOrder and interpret diagnostic studies including imaging, labs, EMG, and nerve conduction studies (NCS)Perform musculoskeletal (MSK) injections, including ultrasound-guided proceduresAssist with specialized procedures (e.g., Botox, spine-related interventions)Conduct inpatient consultations, rounding, and discharge planningCollaborate with physicians on spine triage and care pathwaysManage longitudinal care for complex rehabilitation and spine patientsEducate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery expectationsComplete timely documentation, orders, and prescribing (DEA required)Perform peer-to-peer insurance reviews to support timely care deliveryCoordinate care across departments to ensure efficient, patient-centered outcomesSupport referring provider outreach and service line growth initiativesTrack clinical outcomes and contribute to quality improvement effortsWhy Join BMC Brighton?Be part of a reimagined and growing hospital campus within Boston Medical Center Health SystemOpportunity to help build and shape a PM&R program from the ground upCollaborative, team-based environment with strong physician partnershipExposure to a diverse patient population with complex rehabilitation needsOpportunities for professional growth, leadership, and program developmentQualificationsRequiredGraduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant programActive Massachusetts PA licenseDEA registrationStrong clinical and diagnostic skillsPreferredExperience in PM&R, Spine, Pain Management, or OrthopedicsExperience with ultrasound-guided proceduresFamiliarity with EMG/NCS interpretationSkills & CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of musculoskeletal and spine conditionsStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to manage high-volume, complex patient populationsCritical thinking and problem-solving in rehabilitation carePatient-centered mindset with strong empathy and engagement skillsExperience navigating insurance authorizations and medical necessity documentationSchedule & Work EnvironmentFull-time, Monday–Friday schedule (1.0 FTE)Blend of:Outpatient clinicInpatient consults and roundingProcedural careOn-site at BMC BrightonCompensation Range:$109,000.00- $158,000.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
