Senior Platform Engineer, Systems Engineering
OverviewJob PurposeIntercontinental Exchange (ICE) presents a unique opportunity for a full-time Engineer to join a team responsible for ICE OpenShift container platform. The Engineer will drive enablement and adoption to migrate high performant and critical applications into a microservices model utilizing container technologies by working closely with our development and engineering teams. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and assists developers, configuration analysts, release engineers, developers, and operations teams. Additionally, the Engineer performs root cause analysis of problems, selects and implements automation tools, and actively participates in deeply technical discourse.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, support, and maintain Kubernetes and OpenShift platform infrastructureAssist in the design, planning and implementation of container infrastructure solutionsCapacity planning, tuning, policy and cost managementProvide technical analysis, resolve problems, propose, and implement solutionsProvide support to, and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-usersEducate and mentor platform consumers, team members and operations staffParticipate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours supportRespond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environmentKnowledge And ExperienceDegree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Platform Engineering5+ years of experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift in a Production environmentUnderstanding of major Kubernetes components and familiarity with industry standard implementations of CNI, CSI and ingressesHorizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availabilityExperience with platform and application observability (tracing, logging metrics)Top-tier analytics and problem solvingAbility to work in a service-oriented team environmentProject Management, organization, and time managementCustomer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experienceCommunicate effectively with both technical and business resourcesPreferred Knowledge And Experience2+ years of experience with Docker and/or PodmanExperience with self-managed Kubernetes and/or OpenShiftExperience with OpenShift deployments on-prem and in commercial cloudsExperience with Kubernetes policy engines, e.g. KyvernoExperience with performant implementations of service meshesBuild automation and configuration managementSoftware development experience (Golang, Python)Advanced scripting experience (Python, Bash, Powershell)Experience with Amazon EKS, ROSA or AROExperience with AnsibleExperience with deployment of Kubernetes / OpenShift onto on prem infrastructure and/or AWS EC2 instancesIntercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
