Salary: $17,463 - $20,575 / quarter base depending on experience & educationThis position qualifies for an additional High Demand Supplemental Salary amount of up to $1,103 / quarter depending on load(Per quarter salary calculation: Base multiplied by class load %, ex.: $20,575 base * 50% teaching load = approx. $10,287.50)Welcome! The Health Occupations area offers degrees and certifications in Dental Hygiene, Health Care Information, Medical Lab Technology and Nursing. The MLT program is a NAACLS accredited program.Typical duties include the following:Teach MLT Program coursesSupervise students in practicum rotationsReview and update curriculum for MLT and Phlebotomy coursesRequired Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in science in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalentMedical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification from either American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)Experience teaching in a higher education environmentKnowledge of:* Experience with Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technologies* Industry related laws and regulationsSkill in:Experience in a clinical laboratory, experience in microbiologyImparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of Medical Laboratory TechnologyExperience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework onlineFostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsivenessEffective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the CollegeAdapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilitiesDeveloping/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independentlyWorking and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgroundsPhysical Work Environment:The College operates on campus and remotely, with the option for some assignments to completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office/lab space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers, media equipment, and field-specific technology in the work environment.Terms of Employment/Salary:This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline Community College Federation of Teachers.
