Construction Materials Testing Technician

We're looking for a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician for the A-2 Reservoir project in the Everglades near Sunrise, Westin, Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, Plantation, FL area who is hands-on, quality-driven, and thrives in the field. Come join this 5 year project and grow with us while you prepare for our next big project.What You'll Be DoingPerform field density testing of soils and aggregates using nuclear and/or sand cone methods.Sample and test fresh concrete for slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight; cast and transport concrete cylinders for compressive strength testing.Conduct asphalt sampling, coring, and density testing (including nuclear gauge testing).Observe and document foundation installations, reinforcing steel placement, and other field operations as assigned.Maintain detailed, accurate field reports, test data, and photo documentation.Communicate daily with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding test results, progress, and non-conformance issues.Follow all company and site-specific safety policies and maintain equipment in good working order.Execute tests in accordance with relevant standards and procedures to ensure quality results.Use appropriate protective tools to ensure safety requirements are met.Test stores and logs samples; retrieves cylinders from field projects; and dispose of tested samples.Site reconnaissance and locating bores in the field, log bores in the field, perform pavement coring operations, handle, and evaluate geophysical equipment and data, perform hand augers, and assist with drilling operations, rock, and soil classification.Prepare reports on a computer using Microsoft and other company relevant software, etc.Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and contracts.Confidently communicate and respond to feedback.Interact positively and professionally with other employees, as well as contractors, clients, industry, professionals, and residents/business owners.Apply professional judgment to efficiently perform the inspection responsibilities with the least possible interruption to the work progress.Maintain a high degree of accuracy in all his/her work and documentation.Excellent organization and time management skills leading to timely documentation and submittals.Minimum Qualifications:5+ years CMT technician experienceHigh School DiplomaA valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR)Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communicationCertified or able to attain (company paid) within 3 months:ACI Aggregate Base Testing TechnicianACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1BenefitsChoice of Two Medical Plans - 100% Company paid for Employee coverageHSA medical option - with Company contributionAffordable Dental & Vision Plans - Keep that winning smile sharp401(k) with 3% Company Contribution - Future you says thanksShort & Long-Term Disability (Company Paid) - Because life happensCritical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Accident Plan- Pairs nicely with an HSA$100,000 Life Insurance (Company Paid) - Your family's safety netProfessional Development & Certifications - Always be leveling upPaid Time Off and Paid Holidays - Rest hard, play hardAbout UsMC Squared is a professional consulting engineering firm specializing in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-Environmental, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, and Pavement Design and Management with offices in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
