a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Superintendent - Federal Projects (Traveling or Chicago-Based Relocation)Employment Type: Full-TimeLocation: Nationwide Projects | Option to Relocate to Chicago, IL (HQ-Based Projects)Work Arrangement:Full-Time Traveling Superintendent ORProject-Based Relocation to Chicago, ILCompensation: Per Diem and Vehicle Allowance ProvidedPosition OverviewA highly respected, Chicago-based federal general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to support a growing portfolio of mission-critical federal construction projects across the United States.This organization operates exclusively within the federal sector and is known for delivering high-quality projects in secure, occupied, and highly regulated environments.This role is structured as either a full-time traveling Superintendent position supporting projects nationwide OR an opportunity for project-based relocation to Chicago, IL, supporting work managed directly from the companys headquarters.Current and recent projects include federal office buildings, courthouses, healthcare facilities, military installations, and historic government properties, with active work throughout the Midwest and additional locations nationwide.This opportunity is ideal for Superintendents who value structure, compliance, and strong field leadership, and who take pride in delivering federal work the right way.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all daily on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeoutPlan, coordinate, and supervise self-performed work, subcontractors, and trade partnersEnsure work is performed in compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, safety requirements, and federal agency standardsMaintain and drive the project schedule in coordination with the Project ManagerIdentify potential schedule impacts and develop recovery plans when neededCoordinate closely with the Quality Control Manager to support compliance with the Three Phase Control ProcessParticipate in preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for Definable Features of Work (DFOW)Enforce jobsite safety programs in compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 standardsConduct daily safety meetings, production meetings, and subcontractor coordination meetingsCoordinate inspections, testing, and site access with government QA personnel and third-party agenciesTrack field progress, manpower, equipment utilization, and production ratesIdentify constructability issues early and collaborate with the project team on solutionsMaintain accurate jobsite documentation including daily reports, schedules, and coordination logsSupport punchlist execution, final inspections, commissioning activities, and project closeoutQualifications and ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent on federal construction projectsExperience delivering federal projects typically ranging from $10M to $30MStrong working knowledge of USACE, NAVFAC, VA, and GSA construction standards and proceduresDemonstrated experience coordinating work under the Three Phase Control SystemAbility to lead teams in secure, occupied, and regulated environmentsProven experience managing subcontractors, schedules, and field executionStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsOSHA 30 certification requiredExperience with EM 385-1-1 required or strongly preferredUSACE CQM for Contractors certification is a plus, but not requiredProject TypesFederal office buildings and courthousesMilitary installations and support facilitiesFederal healthcare and VA facilitiesSecure and occupied government environmentsRenovations, system upgrades, and selective ground-up constructionBenefitsa { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }What Is OfferedCompetitive compensation based on experienceTravel and relocation support for non-local candidatesPer diem and travel allowances based on project assignmentFull benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401kLong-term federal project stabilitySupportive, field-focused leadership culture
