DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will support foresters through technical fieldwork and help maintain forest resources and recreational areas across the district. You will be involved in collecting data, assisting with habitat management activities, and providing hands-on support for forestry operations. As a Seasonal Forest Technician, you will perform the following duties:
Timber Work: Mark timber, survey boundaries, and collect field measurements to support timber sales and forest planning
Data Entry: Enter field information and maintain forestry databases to support resource tracking and project planning
Crew Support: Assist or lead small crews in tasks such as fencing, planting, timber marking, habitat work, and vegetation control
Tool Operation: Operate and maintain tools such as chain saws, brush cutters, and other field equipment during outdoor assignments
Forest Health: Assist with insect and disease monitoring through ground checks, aerial surveys, and spray project support
Recreation Support: Help maintain recreational facilities, assist with volunteer projects, and support public outreach activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
An associates degree in forest technology; or
Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C drivers license or equivalent .
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
