Technical Sales Manager [Biotech] - Southern California

Our client is looking to hire a fully remote Technical Sales Manager for their Southern California territory. This person will have uncapped commission potential and not only will receive a book of already established business but will get the chance to grow their clientele and further penetrate accounts. This person will need to develop business plans to expand the customer base and maximize profit. We are looking for someone to work with existing and new customers to discuss and fully understand their requirements, create and provide proposals for solutions and ensure a smooth sales process. We are looking for someone who has sold into laboratory settings, ideally, and has worked in the life science or biotech space. This person will need to live in So Cal, Arizona or New Mexico and be able to travel 50% of the time for in-person meetings/events!Account / Sales ResponsibilitiesGrow and expand the existing key account customer base in alignment with company objectivesIdentify and expand opportunities for repeatable, consumable-based business within the territoryManage complex customer projects by coordinating cross-functional internal resources to address customer application challengesCollaborate with internal teams to develop proposed sales terms and conditions, and communicate and negotiate these with customers in alignment with company approved guidelinesPartner closely with the Technical Services department and other internal stakeholders throughout the sales process to ensure customer needs are effectively addressedUtilize market insights and industry knowledge to develop and execute a goal-oriented territory plan focused on promoting this client’s products and services within key marketsMaintain accurate and timely reporting of territory activity through Salesforce, including but not limited to forecasts, key account profiles, and sales call reportsPrepare and present RFQ resource requests that clearly communicate business needs, proposed approaches, alignment with this client’s core competencies, and customer valueActively participate in annual sales forecasting and ongoing forecast updates, providing accurate information and rationale for changes; communicate updates to the Finance and Customer Service teams as needed throughout the yearSupport the implementation and communication of approved pricing programs and adjustments, including annual price changesProspecting / Sales Call ActivityStrategically plan and execute overall sales strategy within the assigned territory to maximize effectiveness and produce sales results; carefully plan each sales presentation by anticipating customer needs and or objections and the response to best close each opportunityExecute the territory plan to meet or exceed sales goalsUtilize strategic selling acumen and listening skills to uncover customer needs and opportunities; deliver clear, concise, relevant messaging to target audiences and provide solutions to customers and prospects to drive desired outcomes and close the saleEmploy solution-selling techniques to identify business needs, and develop customized solutions to solve client business problemsUnderstand competitors' strengths and weaknesses and effectively articulate and execute sales by highlighting competitive advantageDemonstrate effective sales closing techniques in securing profitable businessProspect and open new key accountsRequirementsCollege degree4+ years of sales experience in life sciences or technical/solution-based selling environmentsDemonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales quotes and driving revenue growthAbility to travel a minimum of 50% of time and work from a remote home office in the geographyMust be a self-starter having demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to work independentlyMust have superior presentation, organization and communication skillsStrong commitment to quality serviceDemonstrated ability in the management of large accountsStarting annual salary for this role is expected to be $90,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience + Uncapped Commission Earnings.
