This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise while playing a key leadership and mentorship role in delivering safe, precise, and compassionate radiation therapy care.About the RoleThe Radiation Therapist provides advanced clinical and technical expertise in the delivery of radiation therapy treatments in accordance with physician prescriptions and established protocols. You will collaborate closely with physicians, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and fellow therapists to support excellent patient outcomes in a state-of-the-art clinical environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAccurately deliver prescribed radiation treatments using advanced treatment machines and CT simulatorsRotate across all therapy machines and simulation equipment while maintaining strict protocol adherenceRead, interpret, and implement complex computerized treatment plans and physician prescriptionsMentor and provide guidance to staff therapists as directed by clinical leadershipEnsure compliance with all radiation safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standardsMonitor and evaluate treatment machine performance, assisting with QA, calibration, and commissioning activitiesEducate and support patients throughout their treatment, prioritizing comfort, safety, and dignityMonitor patient condition and take appropriate clinical action when changes ariseCoordinate workflow, patient scheduling, and treatment area operations for optimal throughputAssist with clinical training and evaluation of student therapistsParticipate in departmental policy development, quality initiatives, and performance benchmarksRepresent the department in meetings in the absence of the Clinical SupervisorQualificationsMinimum RequirementsAssociate’s degree in a science-related field or graduate of an AMA-accredited Radiation Therapy program0-4 years of progressive experience as a Radiation TherapistARRT certification in Radiation TherapyTexas Medical Board licensure (Medical Radiologic Technology)BLS certification (AHA)PreferredExperience with Varian radiation therapy equipmentCT certificationSkills & AttributesStrong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics, radiobiology, and oncologyAdvanced technical expertise in radiation oncologyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsHigh-level critical thinking and problem-solving abilityAbility to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated leadership and mentorship interestWork Environment & Additional DetailsAmbulatory clinic connected to a hospital settingMinimal exposure to ionizing radiationPhysical requirements include patient lifting, movement, and positioningOn-call responsibilities as part of a rotating scheduleOccasional travel within the Houston–Southeast region📩 Interested in making a difference in radiation oncology?Apply today or share with a colleague who may be the perfect fit.
