Average patients/day? o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years' Tele experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Upon review ● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Adult Medical and Tele o Live and kidney transplants ● Patient Ratios: o RN: Days 1:3-5, Nights 1:5-7 o CNA: Days 1:5-7, Nights 1:6-8 ● Required License, National Certification, Certs: o RN: BLS (confirmed ACLS is NOT required) ● Skills required: o Past history of caring for surgical patients, assessment, tube feeds, NG tube insertion, blood product administration, cardiac rhythm interpretation (will interpret/document at minimum 2x per shift) o Titratable drips: heparin, insulin, Cardizem. Experience with drips preferred. If no experience, must be comfortable learning and taking on that duty here. o Soft Skills: Critical thinking, efficient time management are necessary ● Support within the Department: o Charge RN with reduced patient load, will sometimes go off unit to help with Peritoneal Dialysis o AM and PM unit leadership presence Monday – Friday o ICU trained Resource RN 24/7 o CNA o HUC o Phlebotomy o RT 24/7 o Hospitalist 24/7 o Intensivist 24/7 o Centralized tele monitoring with tele techs ● Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Pyxis o Monitors: Client Monitors ● Floating: If yes, where? o Within scope of practice, travelers float first o ED Inpatient Boarding 1:4 ratio ● Orientation (facility and unit): o 1 shift to learn the flow ● Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: 24 hours of weekend shifts per 6 weeks o On call? No o Holiday Expectations: Varies o Approval of RTO: ok to approve up to 7 days o Shift times: 0700-1900, 1900-0700 o Schedule cycle: 6-week increments ● Other notes: o Scrub Color: Any solid color o Parking: Free o MUST document pain level before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications. Pain score must also meet the pain score within the medication order – i.e if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3. If nothing stronger ordered, RN must call for an order for medication appropriate for a pain score of 8.
