Program Manager

The Program Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, development, and day-to-day execution of all in-House and in-hospital programs that support families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities Columbia, SC. This role ensures a cohesive, high-quality program experience across all service areas, including the House and hospital-based Family Room and Nourishment Room(s).The Program Manager leads efforts to grow and expand programming, identifying opportunities to deepen impact, enhance the family experience, and respond to evolving needs. This position directly supervises the Family Room Coordinator and is responsible for maintaining strong alignment and consistency between in-House and hospital-based services.This role requires a dynamic balance of on-site presence at both the House and hospital(s), strong relationship management with hospital partners, and a proactive, strategic approach to program development. The Program Manager plays a key role in ensuring all programs reflect RMHC’s mission of compassionate hospitality while operating efficiently and effectively. The position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, creativity in program development, and the ability to balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on engagement. The House operates 24/7, and flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, and holiday support may be required.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Program Leadership and Development● Oversee and continuously improve all in-House and in-hospital programs, ensuring alignment with RMHC of Columbia’s mission and standards of excellence.● Identify, develop, and implement new program opportunities that enhance family support, engagement, and overall experience.● Regularly assess program effectiveness through data, feedback, and family insights; adjust and evolve offerings accordingly.● Ensure consistency in program delivery, quality, and family experience across all service locations.Hospital & House Program Oversight● Maintain an active, visible presence across both the House and hospital settings, intentionally splitting time to support program success in each location.● Serve as the primary liaison for program-related collaboration with hospital partners, including social workers and clinical staff.● Support and strengthen the integration of services between the House and hospital-based Family Room(s).● Oversee daily operations, experience, and program quality within the Family Room(s).Team Leadership● Directly supervise the Family Room Coordinator, providing guidance, support, and accountability for hospital-based programming and operations.● Provide leadership and direction to any program-related staff to ensure consistent execution of services and a high standard of family care.● Foster a collaborative, mission-driven team culture focused on hospitality, empathy, and excellenceFamily Engagement & Experience• Ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all families across House and hospital programs.• Develop systems and strategies to enhance the overall family journey, from referral through departure.• Utilize feedback tools (surveys, conversations, data) to better understand and respond to family needs. Program Operations & Administration• Develop and maintain program procedures, standards, and evaluation tools to ensure consistency and efficiency.• Track and report on program participation, outcomes, and impact for leadership and stakeholders.• Manage program-related resources, supplies, and logistics to support seamless service delivery.• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure alignment and operational success.Partnerships and Collaboration● Strengthen relationships with hospital partners to support seamless communication, referrals, and shared programming.● Represent RMHC Columbia at community events, hospital meetings, and partner engagements to elevate program visibility and collaboration.● Work with the Development team to share family stories, program outcomes, and opportunities for partnership support.● Assist in grant reporting, impact measurement, and storytelling related to program success.Qualifications:● Bachelor’s degree● Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite, Gsuite, etc)● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written.● Ability to multitask, prioritize, show initiative, and take direction well.● Proactive time management skills.● Strong attention to details.● Tactful and diplomatic with a positive attitude.● Flexible and trustworthy with a high level of integrity.● Works well independently and as a team player.● Ability to demonstrate solid judgment and decision making● Good organizational skills● Compassionate team player● Able to direct volunteers in the kitchen duties-Creative in menu developmentReports To: Director of ProgramsSalary: $45,000/yearStatus: Full-time, On-site, Non-ExemptPhysical demands and working conditions:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.General:  The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies. The employee might need to be available to work weekends and evenings as needed to perform job duties and ensure adequate coverage for the House according to license requirements.The Program Manager is a regular full time non exempt employee ( up to 40 hours per week) for Ronald McDonald House Charities Columbia, SC and is subject to the personnel policies of RMHC Columbia, SC.
