The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and optimizing daily transportation operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and high‑quality delivery performance. This role oversees route execution, driver supervision, fleet conditions, compliance with safety and food safety standards, and timely response to operational incidents. The Supervisor also acts as an operational resource and supports the Transportation Manager in ensuring seamless logistics execution across all routes.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Operations Leadership
Assist in planning, assigning, and monitoring daily delivery routes.
Supervise punctuality, efficiency, and return times of transportation units.
Ensure compliance with traffic regulations, internal policies, and safety guidelines.
Follow up on operational incidents including accidents, failed deliveries, and shortages.
Prepare and document driver schedules on a daily basis.
Coordinate with Sales, Billing, Credit, Customer Service, Warehouse, and route management teams to ensure smooth logistics processes.
Act as the operational lead in the absence of the Transportation Manager.
Provide on‑the‑job training for new drivers and helpers.
Lead disciplinary documentation and actions in partnership with HR and the Transportation Manager.
Manage petty cash, incentives, uniform distribution, and payroll coordination for transportation personnel.
Inspect vehicle conditions and coordinate maintenance, testing, and replacements as needed.
Collaborate with the maintenance team for routine inspections and fleet upkeep.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to BRCGS requirements, including temperature monitoring and accurate Thermo King record‑keeping.
Audit temperature logs, document deviations, and implement corrective actions.
Collect and maintain compliance documentation for independent carriers.
Prepare operational, regulatory, and driver performance reports.
Food Safety (SSA) & Occupational Safety
Serve as an active member of the food safety and occupational health & safety structure.
Maintain compliance with SSA protocols, participating in updates, incident management, and process audits.
Respond promptly to any situation that could compromise product integrity, temperature controls, or process compliance.
Serve as an active member (directly or indirectly) of the Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
Maintain full compliance with all health and safety protocols.
Minimum Requirements
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in transportation or logistics operations.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading and supervising teams in fast‑paced operational environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or related field.
Solid knowledge of transportation regulations and traffic compliance.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and resolve real‑time operational issues.
Experience with technology and operational systems, preferably Microsoft Office, AS‑400, and Omnitracs.
Availability for flexible schedules, rotating shifts, and weekends based on operational needs.
Valid driver’s license (heavy vehicle endorsement preferred).
Ability to lift 80–130 pounds as required by operational tasks.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including environments ranging from ‑10°C to 0°C (14°F to 32°F).
