Traffic Supervisor (Traffic & Logistics)

OverviewThe Traffic Supervisor provides functional leadership and operational support to the Traffic Department, ensuring the effective execution of logistics, transportation, and import/export processes. This role supports the Traffic Manager in coordinating team activities, monitoring critical workflows, and maintaining compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and service standards.ResponsibilitiesFunctional Team LeadershipSupport the Traffic Manager in planning, assigning, and following-up on daily tasks for all Traffic team members.Serve as primary point of reference within the department for operational inquiries, technical questions, and problem resolution.Monitor compliance with critical traffic and logistics processes, including claims management (Food Service, Retail, maritime, and international), freight quotations and bookings, data entry and receiving documentation, customs entries, cargo releases, and SURI transactions, monthly reports, billing processes, and reconciliations.Provide direct operational coverage when team members are absent or workload requires additional support.Participate in cross-training initiatives and support onboarding and integration of new team members.Operational SupportExecute key logistics and traffic activities using platforms such as SURI, Steam Ship, ATR, Arbalet, and Workday.Follow up on carrier-related issues in coordination with traffic analysts and management.Validate, prepare, and submit critical shipping documentation, including ITN, BOL, EEI, invoices, and receiving folders.Support coordination of consolidated domestic and international shipments.Maintain effective and professional communication with suppliers, carriers, warehouse operations, procurement, and accounting teams.Delegated Supervision and Team DevelopmentAct as alternate leader in absence of Traffic Manager.Participate in management meetings, performance reviews, and logistics planning discussions as required.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, controls, and team efficiency.Collaborate in development, review, and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Support compliance with KPIs, deadlines, and audit requirements.Qualifications & Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, International Trade, or related field.Minimum of 3 years in logistics, transportation, or import operations.Intermediate knowledge of end-to-end traffic and logistics processes: shipping operations, customs, freight consolidation, documentation, logistics platforms, and supplier coordination.Proven ability to lead teams, facilitate communication, and ensure proper follow-up on tasks.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and systems such as SURI, Steam Ship, ATR.Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (written & spoken) – required.Strong organizational skills, problem-solving, continuous improvement focus.Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, strong commitment to professional development.Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentAbility to remain seated for extended periods while performing office-based tasks. Ability to stand and walk occasionally within office, move between work areas, and attend meetings. Frequent use of hands and fingers for office and communication equipment. Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds. Limited infrequent travel may be required. Professional appearance and attire per company standards.
