Consultation and coordination with team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate intraoperative patient care plans are essential. The nurse serves as a communication liaison to patients, families, and members of the operating team. Preparation of the operating room for the patient and surgical procedure is required. The nurse assembles equipment and supplies, ensuring equipment is functional, and verifies that supplies/implants are available.
