Associate Attorney - Civil Litigation

Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Attorney to manage litigation matters, represent clients in court, and develop case strategy from intake through resolution. The ideal candidate will combine strong courtroom advocacy with excellent legal writing and client counseling abilities to achieve positive outcomes for our clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of civil and personal injury matters, collaborate with a litigation team, and contribute to firm growth. Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, and administrative proceedings, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial matters.Develop and implement case strategy; manage all phases of litigation from initial intake and investigation through discovery, motions practice, settlement negotiation, and trial.Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, demand letters, and other litigation documents.Conduct legal research, analyze relevant statutes and case law, and prepare persuasive memoranda and trial materials.Take and defend depositions, examine witnesses, and prepare clients and witnesses for trial testimony.Counsel clients on legal risks, options, and realistic outcomes; maintain regular client communication and case updates.Collaborate with colleagues, paralegals, and experts to develop evidence, trial exhibits, and litigation budgets.Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and alternative dispute resolution processes to reach favorable resolutions.Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and comply with professional and ethical obligations.Contribute to business development efforts, including client intake, relationship building, and community outreach as appropriate. QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar.Required: Proven litigation experience with courtroom advocacy skills and familiarity with civil procedure, evidence, and trial practice.Minimum 3+ years of litigation experience preferred; open to candidates with associate-level experience who demonstrate strong litigation abilities.Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills; experience drafting pleadings, motions, and trial briefs.Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Excellent client counseling, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; professional demeanor and sound judgment under pressure.Nice to have: experience handling personal injury matters, defense work, employment-related claims, and civil litigation involving auto/motor vehicle accidents, slip-and-fall incidents, construction defect claims, and other tort matters.Experience defending clients in accidents and injury cases (e.g., motor vehicle, auto, slip and fall, construction defect) is a plus.Comfort working independently and as part of a team; willingness to mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with experts and paralegals.Reliable case management, timekeeping, and familiarity with litigation support tools and legal research platforms.
