UNIQUE Social Work Position for Women's Homeless Shelter

Please be an ENTHUSIASTIC self-starter and someone who has a passion for helping women hurdle the barriers keeping them from permanent housing. This is a great opportunity to put your own mark on a social work program! This is NOT a typical clinical environment; this position calls for someone with positive energy, the ability to do stairs, and be a true team player, collaborating and working with the entire shelter admin team. In this position you will truly meet the clients where they are; indoors and outdoors within the site. Social Work/LMSW position available at our women's homeless shelter located in Center Moriches, NY. Caseload is 17 women at maximum. LMSW required. This is a full time position (Mon - Fri) 8am - 4pm, 2 days will be a flex schedule (10-6 or 11-7). Must pass background check through Suffolk County Dept. of Social Services and be fingerprinted. Facilitate support groups for residents (2) times weekly. Meet with clients regularly for individual counseling needs and complete counseling progress notes after each session with client. Consult with doctors, therapists and medical professionals regarding client’s mental health status and provide referrals. Assist clients with medication monitoring. Conduct Intake Assessments and Discharge Summary Assessments for DSS. Assist Program Supervisor and Shelter Case Manager with client tasks and maintenance. Conduct room checks with House Manager, Supervisor, and Case Manager. Maintain requirements for licensing including continuing education credits and trainings. (Attend required trainings through SCDSS and complete HMIS training, others as they are offered) Benefits available: PTO and Medical after a 30-day probationary period.
