This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with strong public accounting tax experience who enjoys client interaction, staff mentorship, and strategic tax planning.The selected candidate will work remotely from Texas until the company opens its Texas office next year. **Quarterly travel to the Portland office will be required**.This position offers long-term growth potential, autonomy, and the opportunity to help build and lead future office operations.Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation, Review & PlanningReview approximately 70% of tax returnsPrepare complex business and individual tax returnsConduct tax research and identify planning opportunitiesPrepare tax projections and multi-year tax planning analysesHandle IRS/state notices, audits, and correspondenceClient Management & AdvisoryServe as primary point of contact for assigned clientsLead client meetings and provide strategic tax guidanceAdvise clients on business and financial tax implicationsBuild long-term client relationshipsIdentify proactive tax-saving strategiesLeadership & OperationsManage workflow and staff assignmentsMentor and support junior staffReview staff work for accuracy and qualityImprove internal processes and client experienceSupport office operations below partner levelAssist in future Texas office growth and leadershipRequired QualificationsActive CPA license OR within 6 months of obtaining CPA4–5+ years of CPA firm tax experienceMinimum 2 years of supervisory experience within a CPA firmStrong experience with:Business tax returnsIndividual tax returnsTax preparation and reviewExperience working with closely held/small businessesStrong communication and client management skillsAbility to work independently in a remote environmentMust reside in TexasComfortable traveling quarterly to the Portland officePreferred QualitiesLeadership mindset with strong ownership mentalityProcess improvement experienceAbility to mentor and develop team membersStrong attention to detail and technical tax knowledgeComfortable in a collaborative, autonomous work culture
