Associate Backend Software Engineer (Java, Vert.x, AWS) - Remote US

We are looking for a talented Associate Backend Software Engineer (Java, Vert.x, AWS), to join our Signals Software team, building our next generation cloud notebook application.You will be focused on the back-end design and development of our cloudnotebook product, helping turn marketing requirements into an easy to use and elegant application designed for the scientific community. If you are looking to join an international team of talented engineers, designers, and product managers, and to contribute to delivering amazing, high impact, customer-focused features, this is a great opportunity.Your first assignment will be to provide / maintain Core SSO application (Ruby) and also slowly integrate within our Core Signals Notebook team todeliver new functionalities using Java / Vert.X through REST APIs among other things.You Will -Collaborate with fellow team members on priorities, specifications, and feature implementationCraft well-documented, clean, and tested codeCreate secure, performant interfaces and servicesBuild and maintain new, high-impact functionality into Signals NotebookWork with cloud services and technologiesLeverage Claude Code to understand, analyze the codebase and propose specsBasic Qualifications:0 - 1 year of professional work experience (and/or internship)Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree is preferredKnowledge of Object-Oriented ProgrammingProven Familiarity/Usage of Claude Code or other AI AgentsGood SQL concepts and be able to write complex queriesUnderstanding of REST APIsExposure to CI/CD (Jenkins GitHub)Must have strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teamsExcellent work ethic and strong sense of ownership of end resultEntrepreneurial minded, creative problem solver, and innovative thinkerThe working hours for this position will be EST.Candidates must have the capability to Interview In-Person at our Headquarters in Waltham, MA USA.Please include a valid LinkedIn profile and added work links, to your resume.Fraud Prevention Notice: We are committed to a fair and transparent hiring process. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hirein this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additionalfactors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company.
