CHILLICOTHE CITY SCHOOLSJob DescriptionPosition: Paraprofessional II - PioneerReports To: Building PrincipalsEmployment Status: Classified, 185 daysMinimum QualificationsAssociate's Degree preferredWilling and able to participate in in-service trainingDemonstrated ability in working with students in formal and informal situations and show evidence of successful work experienceEligible to obtain a State Paraprofessional Aide LicenseGeneral Duties: To plan activities that assist the school in achieving teaching objectives. This may include large groups of students, including rotations of student classes on the unified arts schedule. This position may also include Pioneer School responsibilities and supervision of Pioneer students off campus.Specific Performance DutiesWorks with large groups of students, including full classes on the unified arts rotations.Plans activities for students and classes as needed for the period.Collects resources that may be needed for whole class activities or lessons.Collaborates with teachers and curriculum department to develop activities, plan experiences, and provide opportunities for learning for all students.Assists teachers in achieving academic goals for students, including but not limited to covering specific learning standards, meeting building-wide literacy and STEM goals, and monitoring student progress as needed.Assists with such large group activities as reading aloud and storytellingMay be assigned to coach staff members on specific student strategies, such as behavioral techniques.May be assigned to provide professional development to other paraprofessionals and certified teachers on specific topics.Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual studentMaintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachersParticipates in inservice training programs as assignedAssists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field tripsPerforms other job related duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or designeeAssists in classroom by answering individual student's questions while he/she is working on assignmentsMonitors/assists students during lunch, free-time activities or work placementsAdministers medications to students consistent with District policies and student IEPsAccompanies student to inclusion classes, as neededKeyboards study materials, classroom materials, examinations, and correspondenceAssists in classroom documentation Additional Pioneer Specific Performance DutiesAssists students with personal health needs such as feeding, walking, hygiene, etc.Works with individual or small groups of students on specific skills and/or assignmentsCollaborates with Pioneer staff to provide opportunities and learning experiences for studentsFollows the rules and expectations of the Pioneer School, under the supervision of the CCSD Special Education Director and/or the Pioneer School administrationEvaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of support services personnel.This job description in no manner states or implies these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the position incumbent.
